Q. Are the bins easy to disassemble and clean?
A. Yes they are - both types can be disassembled in a matter of seconds, cleaned and
then reassembled just as quickly.
Please see our
Product Videos page for video
tutorials on product maintenance.
Q. Are they
dishwasher proof?
A. With the scoop bin, the scoops tongs
and utensil holders are definitely
dishwasher proof. These items should be
washed on a daily basis as part of a
hygienic cleaning schedule. The bins
themselves are dishwasher proof in a
recommended water temperature of 55°C (130°F) but over time and depending on
the type of detergent used, the
appearance of the bin can be adversely
affected. Our recommendation is to wash
the bin by hand in warm water with a
soft cloth and a friendly detergent.
Q. How often
do I need to wash bins?
A. This will depend on the nature of the
product in the bin. Certainly all the
front lids should ideally be wiped over
with a soft cloth and a sanitiser at the
beginning of each day to remove all
fingerprints. Some bins with clean
product need cleaning a lot less
frequently than sticky products like
dates.
Q. Are there
any bin parts that should not be
immersed in water?
A. Yes. The self close unit on the top
of the scoop bin should be removed prior
to immersion. Failure to do so could
result in a failure to function.
Q. Is there
any other care that should be taken when
cleaning bins?
A. Yes, never use scouring pads or
solvents to clean bins. This could lead
to permanent damage and would not be
covered by warranty.
Q. Although
the scoop bins are made of durable
polycarbonate, what happens if they
eventually wear
over time?
A. Simply contact your nearest Durapod
distrubutor and they will supply new lids at a
very reasonable rate. This goes for all
bin parts. This is the beauty of a
modular design.

Q. Some of
the scoop bins are on rails – what is
the purpose of the rails?
A. The rails act as a guide for the
bins, providing a friendly means of
moving the bins on and off the shelf or
positioning the bin in the forward
position to facilitate filling through
the rear chute.
Q. Do we
have to have the rails?
A. No you don't, the bin can work fine
without rails. Have a chat with your
Durapod representative about these
options.
Q. Do the scoop bins sit horizontally on the shelf?
A. They can do but the self closing lid mechanism works more effectively if the shelf has a 4- 5 degree slope from back to front.
